Around 46 million turkeys are killed every Thanksgiving in the U.S. Most live in crowded factory farms, bred so unnaturally large that they can barely stand. “White meat” isn’t truly healthy either—often high in saturated fat and linked to inflammation compared to whole plant foods. Try Northern Seitan this year!

Shifting to plant-based diets is the single most powerful action individuals can take to fight climate change. Global adoption could reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reshape agriculture, and restore vast areas of land currently used for animal farming. Yet, few environmental organizations openly teach this truth, that the food on our plates has more impact than almost anything else we do. That’s why we’re here to prove that living vegan, even in Alaska, is not only possible but vital for the planet’s future.

The time for awareness has passed. It is time for action. By choosing plants, we are choosing progress, compassion, and the future of Alaska’s wild beauty. A landmark 2025 Oxford University study found that global adoption of plant-based diets could reduce agricultural emissions by more than 70 percent, free up billions of acres of land, and help restore nature on a planetary scale. Every choice we make now matters.

Going vegan does not automatically mean healthy. The most restorative path is a whole food, plant-based lifestyle free of added salt, oil, and sugar. We are living in a health crisis. Nearly one in two people will die from heart disease, yet up to 80 percent of cardiovascular disease is preventable through diet and lifestyle (World Heart Federation, 2025). Almost 50 percent of all cancer deaths are linked to preventable factors such as poor diet, inactivity, and smoking (Scientific American, 2025). That is why I strongly advocate for cellular regenerative detoxification, no matter what you eat or where you are on your health journey. Prevention is the ultimate medicine.
